LED

LED Display: it stands for light emitting diodes it has a series of diodes are arranged to from a pixel position to display. Electrical current excites diodes to glow in the format text number and images. LCDs are super-thin displays that are used in laptop computer screens and flat panel monitors. Smaller LCDs are used in handheld TVs, PDAs, and portable video game devices. The image on an LCD screen is created by sandwiching an electrically reactive substance between two electrodes. This color of this substance can be changed by increasing or reducing the electrical current. Since LCD screens are based on the principle of blocking light (rather than emitting it), they use up much less power than standard CRT (Cathode-Ray Tube) monitors.

APPLICATIONS:
a)      Remote control
b)      Key boards
c)       Optical mouse
d)      Type writers
e)      Electric devices

CRT and LCD

·         What is difference between CRT and LCD?
CRT
LCD

1)      It stands for cathode ray tube.
1) IT stands for liquid crystal display.
2)      It is large in size and heavy in weight.
2) It is small in size and light in weight.
3)      It produces Lower quality output.
3) It consumed less power and voltage.
4)      It consumed more power and voltage.
4) It produces higher quality output.
5)      It uses phosphor coated screen to display information and cheaper than LCD.
5) It uses electronic signal to display information and expensive than CRT.

LCD Monitor

LCD:
It stands for liquid crystal display. It is more economic lighter in weight, nut bulky and expensive type of monitor. It consumes low power and low voltage. The material that behaves like both liquid and solid is called liquid crystal display. It produces better quality output than CRT monitor. The electronic signals are used to display information on the screen.

A monitor that uses LCD technologies rather than the conventional CRT technologies used by most desktop monitors. Until recently, LCD panels were used exclusively on notebook computers and other portable devices. In 1997, however, several manufacturers began offering full-size LCD monitors as alternatives to CRT monitors. The main advantage of LCD displays is that they take up less desk space and are lighter. Currently, however, they are also much more expensive.
