Input Devices

1)      Joystick: joystick is an also an important input device that is use for playing games. It is also pointing device joystick is use move the cursor position on the screen. A joystick is a stick which has a spherical bulb. Its lower end as well as at its operands. The joystick can be move right or left, back ward or forward. The joystick deceits and measure a displacement of the joystick comes it center position the information sent in the processor. 

2)      Joypad: Joypad is similar to joystick but the operation performed by it is different. It is also used for playing games. It consists of multidirectional al touch pad that can be moved in any direction when movement is occurred electrical signal is transmitted to processor.

3)      Touch Screen: it is also one of important and modern input device. It uses advanced technology and mostly used in digital watch, camera, mobile, computer etc. it is a screen with torch sensitive points or program when specific program is touched by finger. The related programs are activated. There are three types of touch sensitive screen technology.

i)                     Capacitive Screen

ii)                   Infrared

iii)                  Pressure sensitive screen.

 

4)      Light pen: light pen is an input device and mostly used to draw diagrams. It is also know as pointing device. It consists of pen with light sensitive element (LED) which when placed against the screen, detects the light from the screen and electrical signal. Generated are transmitted to the processer. It is used in drawing, engineering, architect circuit design and other art work.

 

5)      OBR: It stands for Optical Bar Code Reader. It consists of 10 digits. The first digits are used to give information about manufacturing company and last five digits are used to give information about price and product.

6)      OCR (Optical Character Reader): OCR stands for optical character reader or Optical character recognition. It reads printed character directly and converts them into appropriate codes and stores them in a computer. When light source is passed over a document the written or typed characters reflect less light than the back ground area. Thus the shape of the characters is determined. 

 

7)      Track Ball: it is a popular input device and used as pointing device. It contains a ball which can rotate in any direction. The user spins the ball in different direction to move the cursor on the screen. When it moves the electrical signal are generated to detect the direction and speed of the ball, Then information is sent to processor. 

 

8)      Web cam: it is also one of the popular input devices. It is cheaper than video camera. It can sit on top of pc 8monitor and user can capture the images of himself or herself while working at Computer. The image captured is stored in computer memory and sent over a network. It is popularly used in email, internet and chatting. 

9)      Digital Camera: it is also one of the popular input devices for photo and pictures unlike web, Digital camera. It is portable handheld device that is used to capture images. The digital camera digitalize the image compress it and stored in a special memory card. Ten users can copy image to PC. The image are edited, copied and printed using Computer.
